Nepotism is a negative social and administrative phenomenon prevalent in some societies and public and private institutions. It refers to favoritism and preferential treatment given to relatives or friends in hiring, promotion, or granting privileges, without regard to competence or merit. This phenomenon is a major obstacle to achieving justice and equal opportunities. Nepotism manifests in various fields, such as government jobs, private institutions, and even in education, sports, and political groups. When someone is granted a position or opportunity simply because of their familial, personal, or political connection to the decision-maker, it leads to the exclusion of the most qualified candidates and weakens public trust in the administrative and institutional system.
