Tooth shade Relationship with age and Gender in Jordanian Population in Amman city

Dr. -Mohammad Sada
Abstract

The study aims to evaluate the variations in tooth shade, specifically chroma, in relation to gender and age among the Jordanian population. It adopts both descriptive and analytical approaches to explore the relationship between tooth shade and demographic factors. The research was conducted on a random sample of 224 patients (50% male and 50% female) attending dental clinics in Amman, Jordan, categorized into six age groups. Data were collected through clinical examinations and standardized shade assessments using the VITA Classical Shade Guide, recording tooth hue and chroma along with participants’ age and gender information. The findings revealed statistically significant differences in tooth color between males and females, with males showing higher chroma . Additionally, significant variations were found among different age groups, indicating a positive correlation between age and tooth color intensity. These results highlight that both gender and age are influential factors in determining natural tooth shade variations within the Jordanian population.
